Western Kingbird Family

Chirps and peeps echo from the tree on the corner,
momma flies in and out bringing grasshoppers.
Hidden in the leaves until big enough to view the world
those chirps remain a mystery for days.
When feeling secure, three little bodies perch on open branches.
A camera points at two of the huddled babies,
Momma flies screaming from across the road.
“These are my babies, so away, you human being.
Leave us be, leave us be.”
