Dear Friends,
You receive this letter as a friend of Judy Brook or of Rodney Wilson. Both Judy and Rod served on the Dream Team, their medical mission team to the Dominican Republic. When Judy died in October of 2004, it was Rodney Wilson who was inspired to found the Judy Brook Memorial Scholarship Fund. Many people annually remember Judy in the month of her death by contributing to this Fund to give a financial boost to those medical and lay team members who need assistance.
The Judy Fund has assisted 37 team members to participate in this mission by paying for half of their team fee. It is this generous aid each year that enables us to put together a “best ever” team of needed skills to serve the Haitian cane cutters and their families.
This summer we lost Rodney Wilson, the inspired founder of the Judy Fund. Rodney loved being the “team photographer” for the Dream Team, donning his multi-pocketed photographer’s vest and becoming invisible to candidly record the work of the medical and surgical teams. He was also the life of the party and inspired many a memorable tale. Just ask…..
It seems only fitting that we meld the Judy Fund into the Judy and Rodney Fund to remember both of these friends. This Fund offers scholarships to help pay the tab for folks who take a week of their vacation and pay their own way to serve our Haitian friends.
We invite you to join us in remembering Judy and Rod by giving a gift to the Judy Brook and Rodney Wilson Memorial Scholarship Fund. Your check, written to Village Church with the Judy and Rodney Fund in the memo line, will be acknowledged with a tax letter after the first of the year.
